  38. Of course Kermit works nicely with satellite links too, because of its
  39. sliding windows with selective repeat transport, but some first-hand
  40. independent testimony would be appreciated.  Meanwhile, however, you might

  45. Towards the end are some benchmarks performed over a satellite link.
  46. Speeds are higher these days but the issues are the same.  Kermit sliding
  47. windows let you get pretty much full speed out of satellite links, whereas
  48. stop-and-wait or streaming protocols are either orders of magnitude slower,
  49. or else have intolerable error recovery characteristics.
